AP-P3 Associative Polymer Flooding Agent



AP-P3 is originally developed by "Academician Pingya Luo (Chinese Academy of Engineering) Project Team" under the China national key research programs. It is a novel polymer product which shows remarkable properties of temperature resistance and salt tolerance.

AP-P3 offers the following advantages

Solution can be prepared with oilfield produced water with high flooding effect. It would enhance the oil recovery by 10% - 12% OOIP, or even higher.

Existing polymer flooding equipments for HPAM could be adopted for AP-P3 without major modifications.

AP-P3 shows good alkali-resistant property and can further increase the viscosity through the synergistic effect with surfactant. Thus, it could be used in ASP flooding system.

When used for polymer flooding or ASP flooding system, it shows excellent property of injection and can be applied in medium-low permeability ((100 - 300)×10-3 μm2) reservoirs

Through simple crosslinking, AP-P3 could be also used in corresponding gel systems for profile controlling and plugging. Compared with the similar products in the market, it has less consumption, but better strength and aging stability.


Field Cases
1). ASP compound flooding over polymer flooding
The applied field conditions: injection wells (16), recovery wells (25), average well spacing between injection well and recovery well (125m), average effective permeability of oil layer (590×10-3μm2), viscosity of crude oil(24.7mPa·s), type of formation water (NaHCO3), salinity (4304mg/L), content of chloride ion (626.8mg/L), and temperature of oil layer (45.0°C).
The field application showed that under the combined action of the alkali and the surfactant, the viscosity of AP-P3 system would arise sharply. The effective viscosity for flooding could be obtained at low concentration, thus save the cost greatly (the consumption of polymer would be 30%-50% less than that of partially hydrolyzed ultra high molecular weight polyacrylamide).

2). Air-foam flooding
The applied field conditions: temperature of oil layer (65.7°C), stock tank crude viscosity (73.9mPa·s)
The field application showed that AP-P3 solution of certain concentration has high viscosity and surface elasticity. It made the foam system stability increase by 2.5 times, suggesting significant foam stability. Thus, the AP-P3 plays an important dual role (foam stabilization and flooding efficiency improvement) in air-foam flooding system.
